William & Mary half Penny, dated late 1600s - Georgian/ US colonial coin

This is a nice William and Mary half penny coin dated 1694 with some lovely crisp details. It depicts the laureate and cuirassed conjoined busts of King William and Queen Mary with the legend around the outside. The reverse depicts the seated figure of Britannia, with a spear in her left hand, an olive branch in her raised right hand, the shield bearing the Union flag resting on her left, and the legend around and date below.

William and Mary ruled England jointly as the first and only joint monarchs in British history. They came to the throne in 1689 after the Glorious Revolution, which deposed Mary's father, James II. Their reign was marked by a shift in power towards Parliament and the establishment of a constitutional monarchy. Mary died in 1694, leaving William to rule alone until his death in 1702. As William and Mary had no children, the throne passed to Mary's younger sister, Anne.

It is a very nice coin and a must have in any early milled coin collection.
