Volusian Roman Antoninianus, ancient double denarius coin
Volusian Roman Antoninianus, ancient double denarius coin
Low stock: 1 left
This is an Antoninianus coin from Volusian who was emperor between 251-253 AD. Volusianus was the son of Trebonianus Gallus, who was named emperor in July 251 after his predecessors, Decius and Herennius Etruscus, died fighting the Goths at the Battle of Abritus.
On the reverse it features Uberitas standing left, holding a purse and a cornucopia. Uberitas is an agricultural fertility goddess personifying abundance, richness and fruitfulness.
It is in incredible condition for being over 1700 years old with such crisp details and most of the original silvering and would be a fantastic addition to a numismatic collection.
