Medieval Silver Coin UK / Henry III voided long cross cut quarter farthing
Medieval Silver Coin UK / Henry III voided long cross cut quarter farthing
Low stock: 1 left
These are fantastic examples of coins from the medieval period, minted in the 13th century by Henry III who reigned between 1216 and 1272. The reverses has the iconic voided cross which helps to guide the cutting of full silver coins into half and half again fourthing the coin to create small change, this is the origins of the pre-decimal farthing that had the value of a quarter of a penny.
These silver coins are very small measuring at about 10mm
They have crisp details on both sides and wouldn't be far off how a medieval person would have seen their coins in their hands over 700 years ago!
Please look closely at the photos for the condition and get in touch if you have any questions, I am always happy to help.

Always wanted a quarter-cut penny for which farthing got its name.
