These are authentic 1 Mon Kanei Tsūhō Japanese coins dating from 1636 to the 1870s when the Yen was adopted. This era was dominated by the rule of the samurai class under the Tokugawa shogunate. Samurai would have carried these very coins to pay for food, lodging, or travel while serving their lords across Japan.

The price is for 1 coin which will be selected randomly from the coins in the photos, please get in touch if you would like a large amount of these.

They are made of copper alloy, and made using a sand-casting method, giving them a rustic texture. They feature four kanji characters on the obverse (reading Kan-ei-tsu-ho) literally translated to "Currency of the Kan'ei Era", where Tsuho means "circulating treasure" or "currency".

Weight: 3.7g
Size: 25mm
