George III half Penny, dated 1773 - Georgian/ US colonial coin
George III half Penny, dated 1773 - Georgian/ US colonial coin
Low stock: 1 left
This is a nice George III half penny coin dated 1773 with some lovely crisp details. It depicts the laureate and cuirassed bust of King George III with the legend around the outside. The reverse depicts the seated figure of Britannia, with a trident in her left hand, an olive branch in her raised right hand, the shield bearing the Union flag resting on her left, and the legend around and date below.
During this time the vast majority of halfpennies were counterfeits and it is very rare to find an officially issued coin of this type, this one is likely a very nice non-regal coin and a great piece of Georgian history.
It is a very nice coin and a must have in any early milled coin collection.
