This is a lovely large hammered Tudor silver shilling from the reign of Elizabeth I who ruled between 1558 to 1603, just imagine what this would have bought all those years ago. The obverse shows the crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth I, wearing a ruff and an embroidered dress facing to the left, and the legend around that translates to 'Elizabeth by the Grace of God Queen of England France and Ireland'. The reverse depicts a square topped, quartered shield over a long cross fourchée with the legend around that translates to 'I have made God my helper'
It is in circulated condition with almost no clipping, please examine the photos carefully.
These are iconic coins from this period and would be a great addition to any collection.
