Elagabalus Silver Denarius with Sol reverse, Ancient roman coin

This is a genuine Denarius from the emperor Elagabalus who ruled from 218 to 222 AD. On the reverse it features Sol, radiate, advancing left raising his right hand, holding a whip, star in left field.

Elagabalus developed a posthumous reputation for extreme eccentricity, decadence, zealotry, and sexual promiscuity. Among writers of the early modern age, he endured one of the worst reputations among Roman emperors.

It is in incredible condition for being over 1800 years old with such crisp details and would be a fantastic addition to a numismatic collection.
