Barbarous Radiate Roman coins AE3, 3rd century ancient Antoninianus
Low stock: 1 left
These are some interesting coins from the Gallic province of the late Roman empire from the 3rd century. Due to the crisis of the third century the quality and silver content of the official Roman Antoninianus coins was very low and so some of the local population decided to make their own coins that imitate these official coins where the emperor wears the radiate crown and so are called barbarous radiate coins. There are some weird and wonderful designs to them that just don't look right and the legends usually do not make sense. A fascinating area to collect and own in a collection.
Please look closely at the photos for the condition and get in touch if you have any questions.
