This is a rare coin from the late Roman empire, minted during the 3th century under emperor Allectus in Clausentium. Allectus was the treasurer to Carausius, who usurped Britannia and norther Gaul in 286AD where he held power for seven years. In 293 Allectus assassinated Carausius and assumed command himself where he ruled until 296AD.
