This is a genuine Denarius from the emperor Trajan who ruled from 98 to 117 AD. On the reverse it features Dacia personified as a captive, seated left in a dejected pose, on a pile of arms including shields, spears, and curved Dacian weapons.

The reverse of this coin refers to Trajan’s conquest of Dacia and its resettlement by colonists brought from all over the empire. The triumph celebrated in Rome lasted 123 days and included gladiatorial exhibitions that seemingly took the lives of over 11,000 people, primarily slaves and criminals (many probably Dacian prisoners).

It is in very fine condition which is amazing for being over 1800 years old with such crisp details and would be a fantastic addition to a numismatic collection.
